Made in Twickenham, Used on Everest, Appearing at PCB Live

When one of the UK’s top outdoor cameramen was commissioned to shoot broadcast quality footage of an ascent on Mt Everest, it was no time have one’s head in the clouds with the required technology. To meet the production brief, three Sherpas were required to wear head mounted minicams which transmitted via a live-feed direct to base camp several thousand feet below.

Given the remote location and the obvious fact that retakes would clearly be impossible on such a project, the engineering team behind the camera equipment design and installation insisted on using premium-quality components throughout, and contact was made with Twickenham based COAX Connectors. Subsequently, and within 24 hours of the initial enquiry, the company supplied a number of its ‘N’ Type Male to SMA female connectors, and the shoot went on to be a great success, capturing stunning ‘first person’ footage of the ascent.

COAX, a leading UK designer and manufacturer of RF connectors, is exhibiting at the forthcoming PCB Live event on March 12th, where many products can be seen and evaluated.

PCB Live is the UK’s only dedicated event focusing on PCB design, test and manufacture. This one-day opportunity provides senior engineers with a platform to meet and talk with some of the most experienced PCB-related technologists and application experts in the country.
