Implementing plasma surface treatment may be easier than you think. Cold plasma is used for treatment of many surfaces, including plastics. It activates and functionalises the surface, and removes organic contaminants. This allows improved wetting and adhesion of adhesives, coatings and inks, enabling the bonding of and printing on many polymers which have been challenging in the past. It can replace chemical treatments and primers on production lines, speed up assembly processes, and improve productivity. The technology is very practical, and can be implemented quickly and at low cost. Examples will be given in electronics, 3D printing, medical device manufacturing and other technology-based sectors.
